Alloy

Background: The Anakboot Nation is a mobile network of terrorists based in countries all around the world. Their ideology is deadly and dangerous, yet it is not based off religious conviction. The Anakboots employ, enslave and incorporate brilliant scientists, and give them range to perform experiments and develop fields of science beyond the bounds of morality. They use the cutting edges of scientific discovery to fund their political agenda (which is strongly anti-american, anti-democratic and anti-capitalistic). They are of the belief that he who controls the newest advances in technology has power over the world. This is a power which they wield to enslave and reign in tyranny. Many other terrorists organizations fund their studies and theft, making the Anakboots one of the most powerful forces in the world.

As the sciences of biological manufacturing spread, the Anakboot Scientists performed countless experiments in genetic splicing. It was their goal to create a super soldier and grow an army of warriors vastly superior to human beings. They incorporated human, animal and synthetic DNA in many varieties. After years of failure, they finally produced a perfect specimen.

Experiment A-9-13 was thus born. He appeared to be human, but had strange features and the desired enhanced abilities. His DNA was studied and plans were made to initiate mass production. Yet one day, things went horribly wrong. A zealous group of terrorists known as the Otto-ad-din broke into the Anakboot labs, destroyed their research, and stole Experiment A-9-13.

The Otto-ad-din lived like their ancestors, away from technology and in tribes traveling across the deserts of the Middle East. They raised the boy as their own secret weapon, and poisoned him with their hatred for humanity, especially the Western World. He was highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and found a particular high level of skill wielding swords and knives.

Finally, the kidnapped boy, the Anakboot experiment, was told of his first mission: an assassination of an American diplomat. Just as he was to prove himself to the Otto-ad-din, he escaped. He could not follow through with his mission, because he knew it to be wrong. Unbeknownst to his creators and captors, he had a strong will, and clear sense of conscience, justice and honor.

The boy escaped from his old life and went into hiding. Eventually, he was found and captured by another powerful organization, the American League of Heroes. Their facilities and means could not contain him, even though they were trying to protect him from the Otto-ad-din and the Anakboot terrorists. The ALOH soon learned that only other super-humans could help him, and they asked for volunteers in their ranks to take upon themselves the task. A young girl from California, Rennek, accepted the mission.

Rennek gave Experiment A-9-13 an American name, Andrew Lee, and helped him see the good in the American way of life. She showed him true heroism, and he decided to stay with her as a partner in crime fighting. He chose the name "Alloy" as his code name with the ALOH, and to this day fights along side Rennek as a member of the Renegades. He still lives and learns in an ALOH facility, but spends much of his time with Rennek and eventually Sketch as well.

Appearance: Alloy is trim, well cut and toned. He is very handsome with thick black hair and side-burns. (Alloy cannot grow facial hair.) His skin color is closer to a grey or silver color than any regular human skin color. He is muscular without being overly bulky. He was issued a lab jump-suit (modified by Rennek to look more like a super hero) by the ALOH which he usually wears while on a mission with the Renegades. Otherwise, he is dressed with average jeans and a T-shirt or in athletic apparel. While outside, he usually wears a black cloak (even on warm days) which he has had since his life with the Otto-ad-din. (It has sentimental value to him, but he does not explain why.) The cloak has a hood and flows like a cape when he wears it with his jump-suit.

Alloy's eyes are black with white pupils, and his hair is black, thick, course and messy. His grey skin can be course or smooth, with scales or some other odd feature. He has a slim masculine face, with sharp features. He also has subtly sharp teeth not unlike a vampire, but not so much that they call attention to themselves. His ears may also have an interesting shape, such as coming to a point, or something like that. Most of his animalistic genetics is manifest in how he moves and acts, and not so much in his features.  His age is unkown, but it is estimated that he is about Rennek's age since he is about her height.

(These physical descriptions are suggestions, and other animal based physical characteristics are possible.)

Super Hero Uniform: The lab issued jump suit (modified by Rennek) covers Alloy more like a thick and smooth wet suit than a light spandex material. Although his muscles still take shape under the suit, most of his features and details of his physiology are smoothed over by the material. Alloy enters and exits his suit like a wet suit through a zipper down the back. The suit is red in color, and a printed yellow design flows through it creating an "X" on his chest and stripes boldly running down his legs. Rennek added a red symbol on the yellow "X" which is a mix of the letter "A" and a hint of a double helix of DNA. Alloy also employs the use of metallic guards on his shins below his knees to his ancles and from his elbows to his wrists. These have gold edging which match the yellow design on his suit. These guards are reflective, and tokens from Alloy's experience in fencing. Alloy also has a grey belt with a black belt buckle. The belt houses his knife holsters, sword sheaths and scabbards. His gloves match his black cloak, and his red boots match the rest of his jump-suit. He usually does not keep his hood up.

Most Distinguishing Characteristics: Alloy is an amazing fighter, has strange grey skin, and is strikingly fit and agile. However, his brightly colored suit usually calls enough attention to him all by itself. His silhouette usually includes one or two swords in his hands, so he can be spotted from far off if they catch the light.

Team Interaction: Alloy brings a militaristic, stoic and high professional level of interaction with the others, and he expects that level of maturity from them as well. He has a very low tolerance for the the care-free nature of sketch, and appreciates Rennek's skill to keep the team together while following his experience and advice. He is the most introverted of the Renegades, but he doesn't worry about that one bit. He admires Rennek's heart and faith in man kind. It is mostly because of his respect for her that he can stand Sketch, and treat him respectfully. He is mostly concerned with the team's success, so he concentrates more at the task at hand then with his relationship with others.

(Note: Alloy is not human, and has never, nor will ever, have any interest in Rennek other than that of a friend - which to Alloy translates as being a team member in crime-fighting.)

Personality: Alloy is a mystery in many ways. He expresses himself as serious and calculating, and expects most people to fear and respect him. He is very, very quiet, and speaks mostly with his body language, swords and his fist. Alloy has virtually no sense of humor, which Sketch tries to change daily. Alloy is also very pessimistic, generally distrusts people, and usually has a conflicting view with the optimistic Rennek. However, Alloy is fiercely loyal, kind and considerate to the innocent, and his friends. His strong quiet nature sometimes overshadows his deep heart. Only those close to him realize that he has another side which leads him to keep pets, read and study many topics, and have other deep cultural tastes.

Habits, Mannerisms, Favorites and Hobbies: Alloy has a similar thirst for knowledge to Rennek. However, rather than going to a school, he spends much of his personal time reading, taking online courses, and self instruction. When people see him on his own, he is usually in the gym of the ALOH facility where he lives, or spending some time with the Renegades. He prefers to be alone most of the time, but will still keep a pet. He also is driven to prove himself, and can become nearly out of control in a fight. Nearly everything he does is challenging and productive, which is in high contrast to Sketch who is mostly goofing off or playing games. Alloy still has a lot of middle eastern mannerisms, but he is not at all self conscious about it. He is very health concious, however, and always tries to keep his skills and body at his peak.

Style of Speech: Alloy's speech has come a long way since he started learning English from the ALOH. Yet he still struggles (as any immigrant would) with every day conversation. Above all else, Alloy's conversations are usually short and to the point, if he talks at all.

Ruled by Emotion or Logic: Alloy's emotional nature is deeply buried under the logical and life-and-death military training of his childhood. However he does act out of strong conviction, since his feelings do run deep. This is rarely manifest, and usually his quick thinking and fact-based behavior is what people see.

What They Care About / Don't Care About: Alloy cares about honor, and living an honorable life. He will do whatever Rennek, his captain, requires of him, and has pledged allegiance to the American League of Heroes. He wishes to serve them better, and therefore is constantly trying to improve his skills and abilities. To him, these people represent true good, and he is always trying to prove himself as a good person. He also strives to make sure his enemies know of his superiority in battle, to ensure he is not bothered by them in the future. When he wins a battle, he usually does it in a memorable way.

Alloy doesn't care about friends and teenage life like most people his age. He also doesn't care about living a "normal" life, and enjoys doing things his own way.

Powers, Skills, Strengths / Weaknesses: Alloy has enhanced resistance, stamina, endurance, strength, hearing, sight, sense of smell, flexibility, agility, and fighting skills on the super-human level. He also has such good fighting skills that he is nearly unbeatable in close or melee combat. His skin is like an artificial armor that resists many things, and is almost bullet-proof. His body can endure extreme conditions, and many of his abilities could be compared to similar creatures. For example, he can run like a cheetah, swim like a shark, climb like a leopard, etc.

Alloy is also very intelligent, and can learn new things quickly. He is constantly found acquiring new knowledge as well as improving his physical capabilities. He also has a tremendous heart, and has a deep level of caring for people he deem as innocent.

His weaknesses include his short temper, love to win a fight and military seriousness. Alloy has a hard time finding joy in life, much to the worry of his team mates.

Greatest Fear: Alloy is terrified of the Anakboots, the Otto-ad-din, and any other tyrannical or evil organizations rising to power. He also fears that he may not be able to live up to what is asked of him.

How they act when they are feeling good: When in a good mood, Alloy is quiet and works very efficiently. He may smile, but usually doesn't express content or happiness more than that. He also spends time with his pet. He enjoys being around others while on a mission or task, but will still isolate himself when not called upon.

How they act when they are feeling bad: If Alloy is upset, frustrated or stressed, he will fight more aggressively and recklessly. He will also over-achieve and try to overcome or solve what is bothering him. He has a hard time letting things go.

Additional ideas: Alloy may become a little more of a show off as Sketch rubs off on him. Hopefully, he can learn to use his deep heart to trust people more as Rennek rubs off on him.

Sketch: In-depth Character Profile

This deep look into the hero "Sketch" has been released in order to assist our Artists and Writers in their art of bringing characters to life. This report is a suggestion of what the final character will be, and is subject to alteration in the future. Enjoy!

Sketch

Background: Zach McClain never knew his parents, and grew up on the streets of Brooklyn. His earliest memories are from an orphanage, which he escaped from at a very young age. Early in life he didn't like to be told what to do, but liked doing things his way. From the homeless kids around him, Zach learned great resourcefulness and what it meant to survive. Rather than becoming a thief like the others, however, Zach found that he had a gift with creating pencil drawings. He watched local salesmen sell pieces of art to tourists and he picked up the trade. In no time he was able to use his art and smooth way with people to make a living, while still sleeping in an abandoned building. Soon he was selling his art at Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Brooklyn Museum, Coney Island, and so forth, making his way around on his prized possession, his skate board. The homeless boy made a name for himself, and his friends called him "Sketch."

Eventually, Zach was found by the police and placed in the foster program. From his foster families, he picked up tastes in classic rock music, video gaming and other things. However, he didn't want to settle into any of those families. He eventually ran away again, longing for his own life and freedom. As he grew older, he began to look up everything he could about his past, parents. He found evidence suggesting that his parents had moved to California, and stowed away on a tour bus heading West.

At a gas station, the bus driver discovered Zach in the storage compartments of his bus and left him behind. However, before the bus could get very far, it was caught in an epic meteor shower. Green glowing meteorites crashed onto the road and plain. The largest of them all crashed just in front of the bus, shattered into small pieces, and created a large crater. The bus dove into the crater and was buried in the cosmic debris. Zach instinctively ran for the buried bus, and with his own hands, dug it out of the glowing hot rock. He made it to the back hatch and the passengers were free. In the rescue, his hands had fused with space rock, causing him to black out in pain.

When Rennek and Alloy (the newly formed "Renegades") heard of the meteor shower, they rushed to the scene. Rennek soon found Zach and rushed him to the nearest hospital in Compass City. Zach recovered, but extremely dense meteor fragments had fused themselves into the palms of his hands. After a police investigation revealed the boy's identity, Rene begged her parents to adopt him.

It wasn't long before Zach was surprised with green mush being produced by his hands. Aquila Anderson discovered that it was a new unstable compound, created from the meteor fragments in contact with his hands and the air. Zach couldn't have been more stoked about it. He found that he could make anything he wanted out of the mush he dubbed "pite" (by compounding "putty" and "meteorite"). He was eager to join Rene and Alloy in their super hero activities, living life on the edge.

Zach enjoys his life with the Anderson family, who treat him better than anyone he had ever known. He no longer has to worry about money, and thoroughly enjoys being a care free kid. He never lost the mannerisms of a slick rock star, and feels like he is living the dream life. Although his time with the Renegades and the Anderson family is what he wants, he is still plagued at times with the mystery of who his parents are, and where they are...

Appearance: Although the Andersons tried to dress Zach up in new clothes, he often resorts to his own personal style. A blue hooded jacket and black skater pants suit him fine, and he hardly will wear anything else. Every thing on him is over-sized a little, as he links things baggy (but not overly so). His large white tennis shoes and skate board go with him nearly every where, along with his shades.

Zach's eyes are emerald green, and his short hair is blonde. He has white-tan skin. He is average shaped and as tall as a usual 10 year old. He is often smiling and hamming things up as he used to do in Brooklyn with tourists.

Super Hero Uniform: When Rene first learned that Sketch wanted to fight as a super hero, she designed many uniforms for him. However, Zach is too cool for bright colors and capes, so he wears street clothes.     He did compromise a little by wearing a hoodie with a green "S" on it, but he drew the line there.

Most Distinguishing Characteristics: Shades hardly every leave Zach's face. He is also rarely seen not making jokes, acting cool or creating something out of his green pite. The pite can have the consistency of transparent jello, the roughness of stones, the rigidness of metal and just about any other phase under the sun, according to what he wants to create.

Team Interaction: Zach brings a light mood and humorous tone to the Renegades. He sometimes is a little too care-free and careless, but he also has the capacity to really be where he is needed and pull off a mission well. He is the most social of all the members, and eats up media attention like a rock star. He looks up to Rennek and Alloy a lot, but still has a great deal of immaturity, rarely giving them the credit and respect they deserve. He tries to outshine them in every battle and event, confident that he is the coolest of the three. If Zach had a choice, he would spend much more time with Alloy, as he admires his fighting skills and hard-core attitude. He will give Rennek credit sometimes, as she often surprises him with how well she wields her powers. He will rarely argue with the others, but simply does not follow their instruction when he disagrees.

Personality: Zach is light minded and embodies a kid being a kid. He is constantly cracking jokes and getting a laugh, using the resourceful and social skills he developed from his early childhood. He is usually in a good mood, but can be very selfish at times. Zach can also be impulsive and self-serving when feeling constrained. At his best, Zach loves showing off his powers working with his team to save the day. He is fun to be around, and can be the life of a party. He is also very creative, and often experiments with new shapes and compositions of pite.

Habits, Mannerisms, Favorites and Hobbies: Zach can be found jamming out to classic rock, trying new skate boarding tricks, hanging out with is friends, and playing video games. He spends less and less time drawing because that doesn't get him enough attention, and he also watches a lot of TV. Zach is mostly motivated to improve his level of enjoyment of life. However, he also has a brotherly regard for the average person, with seeds of common sympathy coming from his roots depending on friends on the streets of Brooklyn. Zach is going to school, but he often shirks homework (much to the worry of his adoptive parents.)

Zach is often found not taking things seriously enough, and sometimes leaves his fellow Renegades wondering where he is or why his head isn't in the game. But he takes their scolding lightly, as he is convinced that he is still the coolest super hero around.

Style of Speech: Zach sounds immature, and has a thick New-Yorker accent. He uses the term "Mad" in place of "Very, extreme, much," and so forth. He talks like a teenager with attitude, but has an innocent and honest side which is very apparent. He likes getting right to the point, after going through a little sarcasm and humor.

Ruled by Emotion or Logic: Zach is not very logical at all. He loves having a good time, he wants those around him to have a good time, and he sees no problem with enjoying a good laugh most of the time, even at others' expense. Under his care-free facade, however, Zach is very resourceful and a good problem solver, but often lacks the maturity to really focus his skills.

What They Care About / Don't Care About: Since he is still only 10 years old, Zach is pretty self centered, and an ordinary kid in many ways. He cares a lot about having fun, and could care less about larger world issues or even social dynamics around him. If he feels great, then everything is fine. It takes a lot for Zach to loose his nonchalant and adventurous attitude. Adult or even regular teen-age concerns still are not major issues in his mind. He loves the heroics of crime-fighting for the fun of it, and everything else comes second.

Powers, Skills, Strengths / Weaknesses: Because of the fused space-matter in his hands, Sketch creates a "pite" compound which can be fashioned into any kind of weapon or tool. These objects are set with specific chemical properties which eventually wear off as the pite evaporates and dissolves into the air. Zach is very creative with what he makes out of the pite and can surprise his team mates with the variety of things he forms. Zach is also very funny, and good at lifting the mood or helping the others keep a light mood while in challenging missions. Zach is also street smart, and not very gullible due to his early life on the streets. Zach's greatest weaknesses are his apathy and immaturity.

Greatest Fear: Zach will do almost anything to prevent loosing his current family. The Andersons, and Alloy, mean everything to him. Belonging to them enable him to keep his gaurd down and be a kid. He wants to keep this life style. His greatest fear would be to loose his powers, his life, and his family, going back to the streets to fight for survival.

How they act when they are feeling good: Zach makes fun of people, situations, and is generally not serious. He also is in the mood to play video games, hang out with friends, try new things on his skate board, and beat up bad guys.

How they act when they are feeling bad: When stressed or out of his element, Zach can be very argumentative, and start fights. This is very rare, however, as it takes a great deal to push Zach out of his regular attitude.

Additional ideas: Sketch is a pretty simple character, and should be treated as a comic relief. It is also important that Sketch never broods about his past, or mopes about his lack of opportunities in his early life. He lives in the moment, and rarely makes a big deal of anything else. Most people who know him have no idea about his past.

Rennek: In-depth Character Profile

This deep look into the hero "Rennek" has been released in order to assist our Artists and Writers in their art of bringing characters to life. This report is a suggestion of what the final character will be, and is subject to alteration in the future. Enjoy!

Concept art by Caitlyn Neilson - Click to enlarge

Rennek

Background: Rene has lived in San Diego her whole life as the only child of the wealthy Dr. Aquila Anderson and his wife Dana. Dr Anderson is an accomplished lab scientist of a prominent successful research laboratory (Quantonium Labs) used by many major corporations in the United States. The lab runs experiments and research into materials, technologies, chemicals, artificial and biological manufacturing, and other fields all on the cutting edge of science. Because of Rene's father's insights and discoveries, he has become a household name nationwide. His is one of America’s most prized millionaires, owns many patents, and has authored a number of definitive scientific works. He is a very understanding and kind father, while being a quiet man of few words.

Dana, Rene's mother, is very active in their local politics and community. She is constantly found taking up causes, meeting with public officials and using her husband's public image to increase her influence. While she climbs up the political latter, she still finds time to attend her many clubs and groups and make public appearances when called upon. The press believes that she will run for some sort of public office in the near future.

The fame and success of her parents is a double edged sword for Rene. On one hand, she is given all the material things she could want. On the other hand, she has a very distant relationship with both parents, and rarely sees them. This gives her much time to herself. Her interest in science thrills her father, but her socially awkward tendencies are often scolded by her mother.

Although she lives in a mansion, Rene has spent most of her time in her room, researching and studying. Rene was sent to public school and has been a model student. She had few friends, but has already won many academic awards.

When bombarded by metaphysical phenomena, Rene found herself soaring skyward and falling through the floor many times. Her new state was unstable, and there was no end in sight. It was only after her contact with agents from the mysterious American League of Heroes (ALOH) that she was given training on how to harness and control her new abilities. When her mother realized her daughter’s potential to become an instrument of social change, she encouraged her to join the ALOH. Rene enjoyed being sent on missions by the League and living the life of a super hero in secret. The ALOH offered the Anderson family a large compensation to move to Compass City which has the highest crime rate in the nation. There, Rene attends high school by day and fulfills ALOH assignments and missions by night.

Once Alloy had been apprehended by the ALOH, he was assigned to Rennek who volunteered to help train him and teach him what it takes to be an American hero. They formed the Renegades. It was on a mission from the ALOH that the Renegades encountered the runaway orphan Zach McClain (Sketch) in the aftermath of a meteor shower. Rene felt responsible for Zach and begged her parents to adopt him. They eventually consented, and Rene wasted no time in training Zach to use his powers as the ALOH had trained her. The Renegades still carry out missions and save the streets of Compass City to this day.

Appearance: Rene is a beautiful girl who is well kept and well dressed. Although she prefers unflattering street clothes when she is alone, she is rarely seen in public without being dressed in a way which pleases her socially conscious mother. New fashions and trending styles dominate her wardrobe, hand-picked by Mrs. Anderson. Rene resents this a little, and often feels like she lives under the thumb of demanding parents.

Rene's eyes are sky blue, and her long hair is light brown. Her skin is a peach color. She is slim with an average feminine shape. She is average height for her age of 16. She could be considered a "late bloomer" and still has young teen features. Rene wears contacts when out, but wears her glasses while she is inside.

Super Hero Uniform: Rennek's uniform has the black base of a full body leotard which is lightly (but not overly) elastic. Running through this suit is sky-blue bracket-shaped stripes. Her upper back, shoulders and chest is protected by an armor-like breast plate which ends at a point near her sternum. She has a wide purple belt. Her billowy loose sleeves are white. She also wears white boots with matching blue and purple striped cuffs. Her eye-mask is black, and does not restrict her long hair, which reaches her mid-back.

Most Distinguishing Characteristics: Rene’s long hair and vivid eyes are very noticeable, and her kind demeanor are all among the first things someone would notice about her. She also may come off as something of a "know-it-all."

Team Interaction: Rennek balances out the extreme stoic and militaristic nature of Alloy and the care-free and rebellious Sketch. She is arguably the most “normal” of all the team members, and has a lot of respect for her teammates. She tries to live up to their expectations as their leader. Above all else, Rennek enjoys their company and finds a great deal of fulfillment from having such close friends who she can rely on, and who rely on her. She takes it upon herself to make sure everyone is working well together, and reaching their full potential.

Personality: Rennek is cool-headed and practical, while having a unique sense of humor one could expect from a Scientist’s daughter. She likes to stick to business and facts like her Father, and has a contagious optimism.

Habits, Mannerisms, Favorites and Hobbies: Rene is driven by a pursuit of knowledge for the betterment of mankind. She feels her studies will one day help the world just as much as her super hero activities. When she is not doing homework, she is often studying to be a first-rate Scientist like her Father. She is very much a “Daddy’s girl.” Besides reading and being online, she also enjoys traveling. Her mother insisted that she join her school’s dance company, which she has learned to enjoy as well. She is a very good dancer and performer.

She is sometimes found not presentable (with messy hair, plain clothes, etc.) in public when she has become immersed in her work. She also daydreams often and can seem absent minded.

Style of Speech: Rene has an elegant speech pattern, impressive vocabulary, and a professional tone like her parents.

Ruled by Emotion or Logic: Rennek is a highly logical individual, but does not downplay the influence of her instincts. Although she usually takes the most realistic or practical approach, Rennek still has a healthy sense of humor and sense of fun. She is a very well rounded teenager.

What They Care About / Don't Care About: Fairness and truth are the major subjects of Rennek’s attention. The betterment of mankind is paramount, and is achieved (in her mind) through bringing justice to the criminal and expanding scientific horizons. She is bothered by how much High School matters get in her way, and does not care so much for relationships, parties, dances, and the usual things which occupy a teenager’s thoughts. Rennek is very ideological, which sometimes leads her to become an outcast.

Powers, Skills, Strengths / Weaknesses: Because of the random space-time tsunami which she experienced, Rene can act outside the laws of normal physics. She can defy gravity, giving her the ability to fly as long, as high, or as fast as she wants. She can also phase through objects, walk through walls, fall through floors, reach inside objects, and so forth. With her hands, Rene can project anti-energy which stuns opponents, drains heat, electricity, light and other forms of energy. She can also emit anti-matter which causes targeted objects to vanish into nothingness.

Rene is very intelligent and kind. She has strong ideals and a powerful commitment to bring about social change for the better. Her thirst for knowledge, her charity and maturity all contribute to her impressive leadership of the Renegades. She is also a good student and dancer with her school’s dance company.

Her weaknesses include the sloppy and social awkward habits of a scientist, and also a general naivety to the outside world. Thankfully, the latter is overcome by the street-smarts and experience of her team mates Sketch and Alloy.

Greatest Fear: Rennek’s worst fear is to waste her life, having made no difference in the world. The thought of going through life not making any discoveries in science or creating any kind of social reform is one she avoids at all costs.

How they act when they are feeling good: When in a good mood, Rene can be a little bossy, and focused on the project at hand. She is powerfully optimistic and can be very influential to people around her. When feeling good, her leadership skills and problem solving skills are at their best. She is talkative, passionate about her projects and makes jokes.

How they act when they are feeling bad: Rene becomes quiet and isolated when stressed or upset. She doesn’t easily turn her back on her work, obligations or missions, but she will do her duty quietly and quickly. She finds it difficult to communicate clearly when she is upset, so she doesn’t communicate much at all.

Additional ideas: Rene may find a crush which occupies her thoughts and turns her scientific world on edge. She also may lose her temper with the others and work solo for a while. She can be a great fighter, having been a dancer for most of her school life.
